Story Writing Class
Seeking to improve your story writing ability? Our story writing class uses tools such as sentence starters, topic ideas and concept webs to improve your ability to generate and follow topics and develop well-crafted ideas in writing. Using various examples from literature and other supports, Lacey Straub will support participants to enhance their ability to expand ideas both orally and in writing. These small, interactive classes will focus on improving story writing skills in a fun and creative way. Participants can work independently or in small groups as their comfort with topic material and mastery grows. This class is open to those of all abilities.
Handwriting Class
Seeking to improve your/your child’s handwriting skills? Our handwriting class uses Handwriting Without Tears to improve
handwriting skills. These small interactive classes will focus on improving letter formation, sizing, spacing and placement of letters in a fun and creative way to improve neatness and legibility of writing. Participants will be supported to generalize these skills at home. This class is open to those of all abilities.
Art Class
Each art class focuses on an age-appropriate activity that will build fine motor skills, improve sensory integration and foster creativity. Children will be encouraged to use a wide range of materials including paint, clay, crayons, sand and other textures. Each week children/participants will engage and participate in multi-step activities to promote self-confidence, independence and imagination. This class is open to those of all abilities.
Movement Class
In these small group classes, you/your child will work on improving your/your child’s strength, endurance and flexibility. There are many
benefits to improving your/your child’s core strength including better sitting/attention in the classroom, improved motor planning and
body awareness in motor play, better balance/coordination and overall self-confidence. Children will participate in activities including yoga, obstacle course and therapeutic exercises. This class is open to those of all abilities.
